Ms. Evans Room 104

Hello! My name is Kelly Evans. This is my 6th year in Kindergarten at DES. I currently hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Early Childhood Education. In the future, I am planning to complete my Master's Degree and continue my ongoing goal of being a life-long learner. I want to pass the love of learning on to my students!

My parapro is Mrs. Tammy Bowling. This is her 7th year in the classroom at DES. Many students know her as "Ms. Tammy", the driver of bus 28. She has been providing this service for more than 20 years in McDuffie County! We are so thankful for Mrs. Bowling!

I am fortunate to be in a Co-Teach setting for part of the day with Mrs. Berkley Stout. She is a Special Education Teacher at DES. Mrs. Stout provides exciting educational opportunities for all students!

This year, Ms. Jones will be providing ELL services in our classroom as well!

Important Information

We introduce 4 new sight words per week. These words are extremely important, and students are tested weekly. They will also be a huge part of our kindergarten promotion assessments:

Promotion requirements (students must meet 2 out of the 3 areas)

1. BLT (Basic Literacy Test) students must earn a minimum score of 26 (Tested 3 times per year)

2. GKIDS (Georgia Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills)

*students must earn a score of demonstrating in 5/7 ELA areas

*students must earn a score of demonstrating in 5/7 MATH areas

3. Running Record: Students must read and comprehend the level C book.
