Ms. Stitcher's All About Me....
Hi there!
I am Ms. Melanie Stitcher and I am very excited about this school year! This will
be my 29th year as an educator, and it will be my 19th year teaching in the
McDuffie County School System. I taught Pre-K for 10 years and I have
taught First Grade for the last 19 years. I love teaching children, and
watching them have fun while learning.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s
Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, both from Augusta University. I am
also Gifted Certified by the McDuffie County School System. Additionally, I am certified in the Growing Reader Program by CSRA RESA whereby I completed their 2 year program.
I have 2 adult children- Blake Stitcher who is a Principal at Grovetown Middle School, and Taylor Baxter who teaches 3rd grade here at DES!!!! Blake's wife, Lauren, teaches music at North Harlem Elementary School, and Taylor's husband, Brennen, is an Interface Computer Designer. I also have 2 precious grandsons, Emory age 5 years and Silas age 9 years. Mrs. Baxter (my daughter) had twin boys and they are River and Maddox who will be 2 years old in October.
I love spending my free time with my family, and my sweet “granddogs” -Snickers and Moose.
Last, but not least, I am "Mommy" to a Golden Retriever named Bella.
Thank you for your continued support! We will have a great year!!!
